The Kansas Meadowlark

January 2002 Report

Who were the earlier contributors to this group?

Selected Contributions

Larry Winn III is now a member of the Shawnee Mission School Board and has contributed to Taff for Congress, Sebelius for Governor, and State Senators Adkins, Allen and Vratil.  Larry Winn received $10,000 from the Greater Kansas City Chamber for his Committee for Excellence, which, complemented the $20,000 shown in the July 2002 report..

Attorny Jean Wise is a "Republican for Moore", a contributor to KFUPE, Kathleen Sebelius and Senator Vratil.  She's on the advisory board of Mainstream Coalition.  According to a Dec 22, 2003 KC Star article she was a "guest" of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation as part of a meetings about a possible bistate tax election for 2004.

"It was generally positive," said Jean Wise, a Johnson County lawyer and a former Leawood mayor. "All of us would like a ballot proposal we could all get behind."

Free-lance write Isenberg is on the Mainstream Coalition Advisory board and a KFUPE contributor.  Her husband Thomas is a "Republican for Moore."

Note how the contributions are listed in somewhat of a random order based on the dates of the contributions.  VERY EARLY contributor (11/1/2001) Dick Bond was buried on the second page.

Both Marge and Bill Franklin are on the Mainstream Coalition advisory board, with Marge serving on the Executive Committee.  Bill Franklin is on the Advisory Board of Steve Cloud's GOP Club.  Bill and Marge contribute to liberal candidates, including David Adkins, Barbara Allen, Shane Jones, and Adam Taff.  In a 9/4/2003 Sun article Franklin complained about Mainstream:

According to former Johnson County Commissioner Bill Franklin of Prairie Village, however, there is a feeling among a number of his fellow moderate Republicans that the coalition is becoming too much of a liberal, Democratic machine.

"I felt personally that both (Taff and Moore) should have gotten the endorsement of MAINstream," Franklin said.

How does  octogenarian Bonnie Cloud, who is Steve Cloud's mom, keep up with a new political group?

Larry Winn, again.  Is there a pattern here?

Is this group of Metcalf Bank executives, who were perhaps the earliest contributors to JCRE, the ones that started JCRE?

Bart is an attorney with Blackwell Sanders and a board member of the Metcalf Bank.  He's a JoCo Library board member.  In 1999 Bart did make a $500 to Phill Kline for Congress, but most political contributions by Bart and Mary are to liberal John Vratil and Adam Taff.

Jon Stewart is the president of Metcalf bank.  He contributes to liberal candidates including David Adkins, Rob Boyer and Adam Taff.  He also contributed to the Blue Valley First Committee.

Ben Craig is the former president of Metcalf Bank.  He is a member of the Elephant Club and the JCCC Foundation.  He contributes to liberal candidates including Barbara Allen, John Vratil, David Adkins and Shane Jones.  He supports Frank Denning for Sheriff in 2004.

David Wysong has ties to the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.  He supports liberal candidates Adkins and Allen.

Notable Expenditures

Is Shane Jones trying to pad his pockets with all this political money from "admin fees" using this mystery company at the same address as the PAC itself?  Is this Jones' way of funneling money from his "back door" to his temporary agency at the "front door" at 7932 Sante Fe to do this work?
