The Kansas Meadowlark

The Shame of Kansas

O'Reilly Factor, Nov 9,  2006

From Factor Archive:

Life, death & the culture war
"I've been covering the news for 30 years and this Kansas situation is the worst I've ever seen. Dr. George Tiller is operating a late-term abortion mill that will destroy a viable baby up until birthing for a 'mental health' exception, which much of the time is simple depression experienced by the mother. A pro-life advocate told us that Tiller injects poison into the baby's heart while it is in the womb, then removes the dead baby and cremates it. Even if you're pro-choice, you must see the ramifications of this barbaric display. If we as a society allow an undefined mental health exception in late term abortions, then babies can be killed for almost any reason. And in Kansas, hundreds or perhaps thousands of babies have been aborted by Dr. Tiller. The price: $5,000 each. This has nothing to do with 'reproductive rights' or any other euphemism. This has to do with terminating the lives of viable babies because the mother wants to back out of the pregnancy in the late stages. If we allow Dr. Tiller and his acolytes to continue, we can no longer pass judgment on any behavior by anybody. What Dr. Tiller is doing is that bad."

From Factor Archive:

Cathy, Wichita, KS: "I pray outside the horrendous clinic of Dr. George Tiller. I have seen hundreds of mothers pay this monster to abort their late-term babies. Tiller can hide behind his walls, but he can't hide from the Factor."

Tyler York, Manhattan, KS: "Tiller needs to be held responsible for his actions, while we Kansans are appreciative of yours, O'Reilly."

News Hounds Blog ("We watch FOX so you don't have to"), Nov 9, 2006:  Bill O'Reilly continues to claim inside information in Kansas abortions

Wichita Eagle, Nov 9, 2006:  State tilts back toward the middle

"ProKanDo, the political action committee of Women's Health Care Services, Tiller's Wichita abortion clinic, reported campaign spending of $304,108 from July 21 to Oct. 26."

Why does the Eagle report this AFTER the election but not before?

Topeka Capital-Journal, Nov 9, 2006:  Abortion cases to be reviewed

Ark City Traveler, Nov 9, 2006:   Morrison may not drop review

''There's been a lot of questions about what I'm going to do with the medical records,'' Morrison said Wednesday during a Statehouse news conference. ''That is an open case, and I have an obligation to look at all open cases up there, which we will do and will do that quickly.''

He added: ''We will give that the attention that it deserves, and that's all I can say right now.''

Christian News Wire, Nov 10, 2006:

In last night’s Talking Points Memo aired during The O’Reilly Factor, O’Reilly told viewers that the situation with Tiller was the worst case he’d seen in 30 years of journalism. “There should be thousands of people protesting outside Tiller’s abortion clinic in Wichita,” O’Reilly said.

“We couldn’t agree more with Mr. O’Reilly,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “That is why we are putting out the call for all men and women of conscience to come to Wichita on January 20-22 and send a loud, clear message to America that we will not tolerate Tiller’s shameful attacks on the defenseless.”

Wichita Eagle, Nov 11, 2006:  O'Reilly prompts abortion protest

Following a cue from Fox talk show host Bill O'Reilly, Operation Rescue is organizing a protest of a Wichita abortion clinic in January that it hopes will attract abortion opponents from across the country.  ...

"O'Reilly said that thousands of people should be picketing" Tiller, and Operation Rescue said "Yeah, let's do it," its president, Troy Newman, said Friday.
